Gurkha is a true gentlemen’s company. Founded in 1887, at the height of the British rule in Nepal, Kaizad Hansotia created Gurkha Cigars, backed by a family previously established in manufacturing custom watches, specialising in luxury timepieces. Inspired by Nepalese fighters, Kaizad and fellow colonial soldiers began to create their own premium cigars from handpicked local tobaccos.
True to its founding family’s opulent nature, Gurkha has produced cigars, which are infused with the world famous Louis XIII Cognac. At around $600 per cigar, or $15,000 per box, ‘His Majesty’s Reserve’ is something that is best saved to celebrate your daughter’s wedding or signing that first million-dollar deal. It is after all, the most expensive and one of the most sought after cigars in the world.
For a more realistic day-to-day choice, I personally enjoy the Gurkha 125th Anniversary XO. Cigar Aficionado, the leading authority in cigars, ranks it as 9th amongst all cigars produced in 2013. Personally, I love the undertone of orange and chocolate that creates a sophisticated flavour that leaves you wanting more. The smoke is bold and the cigar burns perfectly with a smooth finish.
Gurkha is known as the “Rolls Royce” of cigars. Their attention to detail and use of only the finest tobaccos has attracted royalty, government officials and gentlemen the world over into appreciating their lavishness. There is nothing I enjoy more than having a Gurkha accompanied by a glass, or two, of fine single malt scotch. Take some time for yourself and indulge in a breathtaking sensory experience.
Also I had to throw in this limited edition Special Ops release with knife and ballistic case. Just Brilliant.
