It’s on – right now. Double status credits are back.
From August 9th to August 14th that elusive Qantas Gold or Qantas Platinum frequent flyer status will finally be roped within reach. Qantas have announced they’re offering double status credits on all Qantas flights booked within the next six days for travel between 21 August 2018 and 8 August 2019. However, you must register for the promotion prior to making bookings, to receive the bonus status credits.
It’s common for Qantas to offer one of these promotions at the start of the year, but it’s rare for them to offer nearly the exact same promotion again within six months. The Australian Business Traveller was reporting just the other day that any second promotion this year would likely only be extended to selected frequent flyers. It seems that is not the case, however, and every tier does in fact qualify.
As with all nice things, there are rules. Only those flights with a ‘QF’ flight number will be eligible, Commonwealth government airfares won’t earn double status credits, nor will bookings made using gift vouchers redeemed outside the promotional period. The ‘loyalty bonus’ choice of 50 status credits – or 8,000 points – for every 500 status credits earned will also be scrapped under the promotion.
This once in a blue moon deal is perfect for those waiting to pull the trigger on big international trips and especially those with their sights set on the coveted Platinum territory. If you’re looking for inspiration, we’d recommend you book an eligible Emirates Business Class fare to Europe through Qantas.com. Make sure your ticket has a QF flight number (but is the flight is actually operated by Emirates) so you get both the double status credits AND the premium business class experience.
