Crane Brothers + The Versatile Gent Menswear Showing

Last week saw TVG and leading New Zealand menswear brand Crane Brothers put on an intimate event in Sydney’s CBD. The night was aimed to showcase their new winter range as well as catalyze conversations about the brand with some of our most dedicated readers and a collection of Crane Brother’s valued customers.

Murray Crane launched the made-to-measure menswear label in 1998 in Auckland, and has since acquired the Gubb & Mackie brand as a ready to wear option for those looking for something slightly more casual. Crane Brothers expanded to Sydney in August 2012 to help meet the demand of a growing market, “We feel after twelve years, that the time is right to step outside our comfort zone and into a more international marketplace,” says Mr Crane.

Their showroom in George St is situated in a stunning old building, a perfect match for a brand that prides itself on tradition. We had the pleasure of inviting a distinct number of guests to experience the space, the amazing clothing as well as share in some premium beverages courtesy of Johnny Walker Gold Label and The Grifter Brewing Co.

Crane Brothers pride themselves on quality, “We have always been a boutique business selling Menswear that we have made ourselves, by hand, in New Zealand and these days with a little help from our friends in Italy and Great Britain,” explains Murray. Along with exceptional quality comes a superb price point – Made-To-Measure suits start at AUD$1200 and increase based on fabric choice – each suits is made to a strict set of standards and you only have to touch and feel one of their suits to understand the pride that this brand takes in their creations.

Not to be over-looked is the younger brothers of the Crane Brothers moniker – Gubb & Mackie. Gubb & Mackie has an amazing naval history in New Zealand, and with its acquisition came the chance to revive a brand and make it part of something special. With a more casual focus, Gubb & Mackie includes an eclectic mix of printed shirts, coloured chino’s and textured blazers. Jordan Gibson of Crane Brothers is the driving force the brand’s direction and if his style is anything to go by, then Gubb & Mackie should have a place in everyman’s wardrobe.

Below are a collection of images from the night, we’d like to personally thank everyone who attended.
