Sitting on the edge of Ghent’s Lier River is the ultimate bachelor pad. Belgian studio Govaert & Vanhoutte Architects designed the residence for a single man who provided a very particular brief. Located in Sint-Martens-Latem, just southeast of Ghent, the home consists of raw concrete slabs and walls of glass. The blonde timber floors flow through the main living spaces, complemented by luxurious marble textures, white cabinetry, and furniture with natural tones. Above the living areas sees the master suite and two more bedrooms.
However, it’s downstairs that make this home unique. Dark timbers and polished concrete have created a moody environment. An amazing wine cellar spans the length of the room, also housing an impressive cigar collection. A bar, DJ booth and sofa make up the rest of the chamber, with underwater views of the pool.
Why not have some great way to display some of your expensive toys. A car lift allows the owner to lower his choice of car into a display area.
“Many boats reduce throttle or come to a full stop to gaze upon a residence, quite different from the other houses along the river,” said Benny Govaert and Damiaan Vanhoutte
